What is the M.A.R.K.S. Club?

M.A.R.K.S. stands for Miniature Aircraft Radio Kontrol Society (AMA Charter 133) - Behind this name there is an active RC Model club that is located in the San Bernardino - Redlands - Highland area in Southern California. Currently we have one main flying field but also some additional places where we fly our models, ranging from electric slow fliers, scale and IMAC planes, pylon racers, over helicopters and 3D planes to turbine powered jets.

The "Photo of the Moment" is a new section on our webpage. - If you have encountered something special in context with your club activities send an image with some text to our webmaster and we will post it as quickly as possible. The goal is to have a new picture here every few days. Anything club or RC flying related goes!
12/16/09 - Rick's new Foamie

Here is a shot of Rick's new DW foamies Yak 54. It is powered by a Scorpion 2215-18 motor, 18A ESC, has a wing span of 38in, and is using 4 Hitec HS55 servos. Rick put alot of effort into this design and is came out great. The bottom is white with black checkers. It flies like a champ too, what a great 3D monster. (Aldrin)

10-22-2009: The Propeller Teller is online

After a break from newsletter activity the Propeller Teller is back! - It was sent out today with USPS for those who want it delivered as a hardcopy and is already posted tonight for everybody to read.

10-5-2009: Meeting this week

We are having our regular monthly meeting this week on Thursday, October 8th (7:00PM) at the usual place, the Highland Senior Center. - Besides regular club business we will be treated with a slide show of this year's Reno Air Races, presented by Paul Smith who attended this year's event and got a great inside scoop! - Don't miss it!

9-2-2009: Aldrin's videos of Greenspot activities

Aldrin cut some cool videos of some Greenspot flying action and put them on YouTube - You have to check it out. His main cast are (from what I could tell): Woody, Joe, Rick, Sanford, Robert, and Aldrin himself - I hope I didn't miss anybody!

8-23-2009: Greenspot closed on Sunday, Aug. 23.

To give the polymer some time to fully cure our Greenspot runway is closed on Sunday. The field will be open for regular operation on Monday. - Thanks for your understanding.

8-17-2009: Greenspot closed for repair work on Saturday, Aug. 22.

Our Greenspot field will be closed for all flying activities this coming weekend on Saturday August 22.
There will be absolutely no flying on that Saturday, because we need to have access to all parts of the runway in order to patch holes and ready our field for the winter season. - The field will be open on Sunday if conditions allow it. We will send out an e-mail to all members on Saturday evening. - If you have questions or if you can help with the repair work please check with Rick (fdgreenspot@rcmarks.org) or Steven (vicepresident@rcmarks.org). - Thanks!

Pylon Racing: Gilman Springs, Saturay August 8th

Get your racers ready for the next pylon race at Gilman Springs on Saturday, August 8th! - The races have been revamped under the guidance of Bob Estrella and there are now two categories (Novices & Experts). Registration starts at 8:00AM and the races will begin at 9:00AM - More info will be provided on our calendar.
- So get those engines running and come out to Gilman Springs on the race weekend!
